Features of Dynage NiCd Battery Chargers of the Pulse Type

Charging Modes and Charge Termination Methods:

  • Charge rates of 4C, 2C, 1.3C, C/1, C/1.5, C/2, C/2.5, C/3, C/4, C/5, C/6, and C/8 (and others) are available but depend on the AH rating of the battery, battery system voltage, and charger output wattage rating as to whether a particular charge rate can be achieved with a given charger model.
  • 4-stage-charge control with pulse charge followed by very short  pulse discharge.
  • Termination of Fast Charge on the 4-stage Fast Chargers by:

  • 1)  Using both dynamic inflection point voltage slope detection (negative 1st derivative of dV/dt).
Option:  If thermistor is used with the battery pack and thermistor connection is specified when ordering the charger, then termination of fast charge also occurs by excessive temperature slope detection (rate of change in cell temperature) determined by measuring the change in resistance of  the thermistor.
  • Safety backups to the primary fast charge termination methods above include:

  • 1)  "Negative delta V" and "peak voltage (or zero delta V)" detection and
    2)  Timer controlled fast charge termination.
Option:  If thermistor is used with the battery pack and thermistor connection is specified when ordering the charger, then termination of fast charge also occurs if the set point for "maximum allowable battery temperature" is exceeded.
  • Switch-mode regulated
  • Smart IC (embedded microprocessor) control
  • Microprocessor-based control
Output Power Levels: From 100 watts up to 1175 watts, by model selection

Package Types:  Enclosed, Open-frame, Desktop

Input Voltage Ratings (by model selection):

  • 11 to 18 vdc input, from 12 volt vehicle batteries (switch-mode type regulation)
  • Universal input, 90 to 264 vac (switch-mode types)
  • 90 to 132 vac input (switch-mode types)
  • 180 to 264 vac input (switch-mode types)

Features of Dynage NiMH Battery Chargers of the Pulse Type

Charging Modes and Charge Termination Methods:

  • Dynage recommends that all NiMh battery packs have a thermistor sensing the battery pack temperature so that the thermistor resistance change can be sensed by the Dynage charger.
  • Charge rates of  C/1, C/1.5, C/2, C/2.5, C/3, C/4, C/5, C/6, C/8, and C/9 (and others) are available but depend on the AH rating of the battery, battery system voltage, and charger output wattage rating as to whether a particular charge rate can be achieved with a given charger model.
  • 4-stage-charge control with pulse charge followed by very short  pulse discharge.
