CHARGERS FOR LEAD ACID BATTERIES, UNIVERSAL-INPUT
Single-Mode (Float Charge) and 3-Step-Charge (Fast charge) Versions

FEATURES
  • Universal input of  90 to 264 vac, 50/60 Hz.
  • Inherent input power factor correction.
  • Desktop style with IEC320 input plug.
  • Standard models for 12, 24, 36, and 48 volt batteries.
  • Charge currents (maximum) of 6.0A for 12v, 3.4A for 24v, 2.3A for 36v, and  1.7A for 48v.
  • This charger circuit design controls the output peak voltage better than SCR-type chargers.
  • Thermally protected with thermal cutout within the transformer.
  • Uses unfiltered input power and output power is voltage limited and current limited; peak to average charge current ratio of 2.0 or less.
  • Temperature compensation options, with cost adders, are available with sensor either internal in charger or external next to battery.
  • Designed to meet safety agency requirements.

APPLICATIONS

  • These chargers are for industrial, computer, communications, commercial, and consumer applications.

APPLICATIONS (Cont'd)

  • Single mode (float charge) versions are for use when batteries are being used as standby in event of a power failure or when the charger is always connected to the battery during discharge.
  • 3-step (fast charge) versions are for use when batteries are repeatedly being discharged and recharged; and this version will rapidly re-charge batteries without danger of overcharge.
  • 3-step chargers are not typically connected to the battery during discharge to a connected  load.  See another Series of DYNAGE 3-step chargers that can be safely used to "fast charge" the battery during discharge to a connected load.

SPECIFICATIONS
(These specifications are subject to change at any time without notice)

Input:  90 to 264 vac, 47 to 63 Hz.
Output:  See Table of Models (above).  Customer can select "Single Mode" or "3-Step-Charge (Dual-Mode)" by a "B1.1" or "B2.1",
respectively, in the model number as shown under "Model Number Selection Process" section below.
Output Current Waveshape:  Sine squared waveform.
Output Voltage Waveshape:  DC level with superimposed ripple.
Regulation, End-of-Charge Peak Voltage:  ±1%, typical.
Regulation, Fast-Charge Peak Voltage:  ±2%, typical.
Regulation, Maximum Charge Current:  ±10%, typical; measured at 2 volts per cell output level at nominal line input (120 volts to 240 volts).
Fast-charge Cutback-of-Voltage Setpoint:  10% of rated maximum fast-charge current, typical.
LED Indication (Single Mode):  Red LED Is always "ON" but intensity is proportional to charge current.
LED Indication (Dual Mode):  Red LED is always "ON" but intensity is proportional to charge current.  Green LED is "OFF" in fast-charge state,
                and "ON" in float-charge state.
Short Circuit Protection:  Can be operated into a short circuit indefinitely without damage.
Reverse Battery Voltage Protection:  Protection is provided if customer installs a suitable fuse in The positive (+) output connection lead
between the charger and the battery.
Temperature Compensation:  None in standard models, but option (see below) is available, with an appropriate cost adder, for -4mv per degree
C per cell (typical).  Sensor location, selected by customer, can be either inside the charger case or external at the end of the output
                cord near the battery.
Ambient Temperature, Operating:  0º C to +40º C; derate output charge current by 3% per degree C for expected ambient temperature above
+40º C based on maximum current rating for model with highest rating in table of models above.
Fuse Protection:  The input is fused with an internal fuse mounted on the circuit board.
Input Connections:  IEC320 male plug in the case (customer must provide the input line cord with IEC320 female on one end to plug into the
charger unit and with applicable plug on the other end to plug into the applicable wall recepatacle).
Output Connections:  6-ft output cord, 2 conductor, 18 AWG wire for 5.1 to 6.8 ampere output current ratings and 20 AWG wire for output
current ratings of 5.0 amperes and below, each with stripped ends, or, with appropriate cost adder, options for other selections for
connector on output cord as listed below.
Size:  See outline drawings below.
Weight:  1.75 lbs. (0.80 kg).
Case (Enclosure):  Impact resistant black thermoplastic, with ventilation openings for convection cooling..

OPTIONAL FEATURES

Temperature Compensation:

Suffix "TI":  Provides compensation of charge voltage set points at rate of -4 mv per degree C.  Sensor is located inside battery
charger case and can therefore deviate from battery temperature.  Add :TI" as a suffix to the model number (also see suffix
            "TE" below).
Suffix "TE":   Provides compensation same as suffix "TI" but sensor is at the end of the output cord so as to be adjacent to the
battery.  This suffix requires an two conductors for the sensing device.  Therefore the model number has to be changed
as shown under "Model Number Selection Process" section below.
Output Cord Connector:  See selections offered below under "Model Number Selection Process".
Output Cord Wire:  See selections offered below under "Model Number Selection Process".
